ARTICLE 1. MUNICIPAL COURT
The Municipal Court of the City of Wakefield, Kansas, shall have jurisdiction to hear and to determine cases involving violations of the Ordinances of the City. Search warrants shall not issue out of the Municipal Court.

The appointment, qualifications, powers and duties of the Municipal Judge shall be as provided by K.S.A. 12-4105, 4106 and 4107. Training programs, certifications, examinations and the training fund shall be as provided by K.S.A. 12-4114, 4115, 4116. (See Statutes cited above.)
All procedures regarding the commencement of prosecution, warrants, appearances, subpoenas, trial, sentencing, diversions from prosecution, expungement of conviction and appeals shall be as provided by Articles 43, 44, 45 and 46 of Chapter 12 of Kansas Statutes (See State Statutes cited above Article 42, Annotated.)
At the regular meeting of the governing body each month, the Municipal Judge shall make a full and complete report of the proceedings before Court for the preceding month, which report shall state the name of all parties prosecuted, the amount of fine and the costs assessed, the amounts collected, and the final disposition of the case. This written report shall be placed on file by the City Clerk after its presentment to the governing body.

That for all cases commenced by the filing of a complaint in the Municipal Court of the City of Wakefield, Kansas, on and after July 12, 2016, charging a criminal or public offense or charging an offense defined by law to be a moving traffic violation, where there is a finding of guilty, a plea of guilty, a plea of no contest, forfeiture of bond, or a diversion, there shall be assessed costs in the amount of Eighty-Two Dollars and Fifty Cents ($82.50) which amount shall include all sums required by the following Kansas Statutes: K.S.A. 12-4116, K.S.A. 12-4117, K.S.A. 79-4803, K.S.A. 74-5619, K.S.A. 74-5620, 74-7325, K.S.A. 74-7334, K.S.A. 75-52,151 and K.S.A. 2007 Supp. 75-5670.

The jurisdiction of the Municipal Court in the prosecution for public offenses (Chapter 9) shall apply to persons 18 years of age and older, except that persons 14 years of age or older may be prosecuted in the Municipal Court for traffic offenses (Chapter 12). All complaints involving violations and offenses by minors, with the exception of traffic offenses, shall be referred to the Clay County Attorney for appropriate proceedings in the Clay County District Court.
